About Lionville SoccerLYA's travel soccer program is the Lionville Soccer Club. Where possible, we offer a full complement of teams for both boys and girls, ranging in age from 8 through 16 years of
age. The Travel Program is geared toward the premier players in each age group. The teams are selected by tryouts, open to boys and girls who live in the Downingtown Area School
District. Age groups are determined by the child's age as of 7/31 of the current year. The
U-9 and U10 teams play small sided soccer, with 8 players per side (including the goal
keeper), and smaller goals. Roster size for the U-9 and U-10 teams is a maximum of 14 players. All older age groups play full sided soccer, with 11 players per side. A team in the
older age groups may carry as many as 18 players. The boys play in the Delco League, and girls play in PAGS. The league consists of teams from other soccer clubs in the area,
primarily located in Chester County and Delaware County. The fall season runs from early September to late November. Travel teams will typically play in tournaments throughout the
year, some of which may involve overnight travel. Most teams play an indoor session in the winter at a local facility, such as United Sports Training Center. There is also an
informal spring season lasting for about six weeks in April and May, which usually doesn't conflict with other spring sports. Each of these leagues has a Website that can be
accessed by interested parties. The Delco site is www.delcosoccer.org, and the PAGS site is www.pags.org.
