Kixx Battle Chaos to 1-1 Tie

October 4, 2009 - Downingtown, PA

In a scene eerily reminiscent of the previous day, the Kixx squared off against a tough Lower Merion Chaos squad on a slick USTC field. The Chaos sported nearly identical uniforms to the previous day's opponent, Radnor.

This one was a tightrope the whole way. The first half was back-and-forth for 25 minutes. Both teams had chances, but the Kixx couldn't put their shots away, and the defense came up strong against a tough group of Chaos attackers. The turf was once again very wet and slippery, and even though the Chaos goalie had trouble corraling the ball at times, we just weren't able to poke anything home. The first half ended with the game still tied at 0-0.

The second half was more of the same. Up and down the field the kids went. Shot after shot was saved or knocked away at both ends of the field. Finally, with just a few minutes left in the game, an unfortunate Kixx penalty led to a penalty shot for the visiting Chaos. Goalie Daniel Good leapt to the right to block the ball, but unfortunately, it was a perfectly placed shot, and the Kixx fell behind 1-0, the first time they have trailed all year!

With just a few minutes left in the game, it looked like our boys in blue were headed for their first defeat of the season. But they kept pressing and pressing, and with just over a minute left in the game, Dalton Musselman was pulled down in the box, and was awarded a penalty kick! With all eyes on him, Dalton calmed shot a grounder just inside the left post, and the game was tied! Just a few seconds later, the game ended, and the Kixx remained undefeated!

Next up for the Kixx is the Dillsburg Dual Shootout tournament, after which they will return to league play on 10/17 against winless Springfield.
